Always dynamic, the guys at MCP Presents have graced us all with the music that will be wowing attendants of this year's Counterpoint Music Festival. Despite focusing on a more electronic/hip hop vibe in previous years, Counterpoint has delighted and stunned it's fans with a lineup stacked with Live bands legends along with Deep Bass and House musics, and even some fusions of the two. This year is set to go down Memorial Day weekend, May 22nd through the 24th and sees a mostly entirely new lineup in the headlining acts released as of yet, but it certainly isn't anything to gawk at.
Live bands such as Widespread Panic, Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Umphrey's McGee, Galactic and Chet Faker will both be gracing the lineup this year for the first time. House music aficionados won't be disappointed either, with heaping helps of artists like Zedd, Knife Party, Kygo, Dillion Francis, to name a few.
Not forgetting their origins Counterpoint has also included some dope hip-hop/rock acts like Rebelution, Lettuce, Cherub and The Roots. A multitude of bass-masters will be in attendance as well. Tipper, the ethereal-glitch king, will be slaying faces alongside Minnesota, Papadosio, Manic Focus, Ott, RL Grime, Zed's Dead and Michal Menert.
Coming Back
Although many of the acts are new, it is worth noting that Papadosio, Zedd, Emancipator, Zed's Dead, Ott and Michal Menert will return this year from either the first, or second year. Although he is returning from 2014, I did not include Minnesota in the returning lineup, as unfortunately, his set was cancelled due to the obligatory Counterpoint Storm. Hopefully, this year the storm will be not even be a minor nuisance and I can receive my dose of Minnesota this year in full.
Tickets
Early Bird tickets have sold out, but the Advance 3-day passes are available for about $180 after delivery. Although expect to pay a little bit more if you want to car camp, and don't wait until the last minute, as car camping passes sold out last year. This year, they are set at the cold price of 75 before they go up in February. Hopefully, that money is going to help revive and repair the festival grounds after the population's always messy exodus. Below is the official response, announcing the return of Car Camping.
One More Thing
Before we show you guys the lineup, I'd like to shout out the people overseeing Counterpoint for something that is quite uncommon nowadays, listening to their fans. Despite an initial announcement declaring that there would be no car-camping on grounds this year, which you may have imagined caused quite the stir. CP has tweeted that it has repealed it's decision and will allow car-camping again this year. Last years smooth operation was much more noticed over the first year and I, for one am humbled to be a fan of a truly fan-receptive festival.
Below the lineup, I've posted a few choice tracks and a cool after movie from last year. Enjoy!
