More than a year ago, we first heard 3LAU‘s mashups on turntable.fm and were immediately huge fans. Since then, what started out as an casual interest for this college student has blossomed into a meteoric rise into the EDM world.
3LAU's mashups, oftentimes, are legitimately better than the originals – and when you're mixing icons like Skrillex, Knife Party, and Porter Robinson… well it's hard to improve anything.
Yet he took 1st Place in Beatport's Remix competition for a remix of Tiesto, and then his fame just skyrocketed. 3LAU takes each track and makes it wholly different. His latest EP, Dance FLoor Filth, contains many great tunes, but nothing will ever take the place of the first ones I ever heard. What will the future hold for this talented college student? Who knows? Right now he's making all the right moves and the right connections. Could there be a transitions to original productions? I certainly hope so – he's more than capable of them.
