“Burn all electronic music down, I don’t care” – Deadmau5

On November 15 through 16th, Deadmau5 was interviewed at the FutureSound conference in San Francisco where he discussed the EDM scene as well as his reported income. The interview took place with the Editorial Director of Billboard, Bill Werde.

Bill Werde asked Deadmau5 what he thought of the EDM Scene where Zimmerman replied “Burn all electronic music down, I don't care. At the end of the day, scenes don't evolve. Scenes are scenes. They're there and then they're not.” They compared EDM to Disco music back in the day where there was a big cult following for Disco Music, but then Disco crashed all of a sudden. Deadmau5 is trying to prove that scenes come and go and that's why he wants to get rid of the scene feeling with EDM.

Deadmau5 also said that it seems that today DJing is more artist driven and more about the producer as opposed to the guy who can string songs together. “It's no longer a technological feat to string some tunes together.”
