Today on his website, Moby announced that he will be releasing his 11th studio album in early October of this year. Moby gave a quick rundown of the basic infrastructure of the album and the many collaborators on it. Of all the collaborators that Moby announced on the album, the one person who he singled out was Mark “Spike” Stent, a well known producer/mixer/engineer that is most well known for his lo-fi electronic productions such as the Massive Attack albums “Protection” and “Mezzanine” as well as more current projects such as Muse's “The 2nd Law.” This seems to indicate that Moby is going to be putting out some downtempo, drone filled tracks filled with collaborators to round out the sound. So expect a lot more introspective, heady songs than the four-to-the-floor big room bangers.
The collaborators include Wayne Coyne (from the Flaming Lips), Skylar Grey, Cold Specks and a few more. As a teaser, Moby released the first single off the album, “A Case For Shame” featuring Cold Specks. It's eerie, swaying, sultry and has a beautiful harmony filled minor mode ambiance.
