Northcoast, Chicago's end of summer festival took place over Labor Day weekend in Union Park. No longer the youngest festival in Chicago, its lineup builds and diversifies in new and interesting ways each year.
Friday
Apparently, Passion Pit's equipment was soaked by the brutal yet brief storm that temporarily rained out the festival, sending coasties fleeing to whatever shelter they could find. Turntables and a laptop were subbed in for the ruined equipment and the crowd danced to a full band DJ set.
Saturday
Bondax's set was one of the most fun of the day. Their house and garage tracks were especially for a Chicago audience. The way a sound, a genre, a rhythm can evolve and move yet remain true to original state in incredible – but not always as important as being able to lay down a solid set. Bondax write tunes that are as intelligent as they are danceable.
