Three days ago, the very first YouTube Music Awards took place in Manhattan, and was streamed live to computers all over nation. According to reports, only a mere 220,000 computers though. Boasting an impressive list of performers such as Lady Gaga and Arcade Fire attempting to create ‘live music videos,' it's surprising so little fans tuned in. Running at only an hour and a half (and actually ending short), the award show had no structure or agenda, leading to what some referred to as chaotic and full of technical malfunctions. I guess there's a first for everything, but according to the low number of viewers, we still enjoy our regularly planned award shows, and
YouTube/Google is going to have to do something big to beat our beloved MTV Video Music Awards.
