On November 5th, we wrote that Ministry Of Sound was making its plea to remain open while housing developer Oakmayne wanted to build 250 apartments and 80 houses surrounding the area. Ministry Of Sound knew that they would receive noise complaints and would be forced to shut down if the plan was approved.
After listening to both parties, Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, told the nightclub to come to a private deal with the housing development company. Boris told the housing development company and Ministry Of Sound that they must make an arrangement within one month's time which would secure both of their futures.
Chief Executive of Ministry Of Sound told Music Week “We're encouraged that the Mayor has chosen to adjourn the decision and we're confident he recognises that the solutions we are putting forward will ensure all parties are happy with the outcome… As the Mayor has requested, we will sit down with the developer to work on a mutually agreeable, sustainable solution – one which will deliver housing for London and safeguard the future of our club.”
