It has been announced that Detroit native Seth Troxler, best known for his techno and house work, will be starting residencies in 2014 with clubs that he holds dear. Doted as “Seth Troxler Goes Clubbing” is the idea that he can play at venues that hold the same values that he as an artist does, without all of the extra stuff that goes into “putting on a show” nowadays. He goes on to say,
“With all hype surrounding EDM and many DJs just focusing mainly on festivals and larger events, I feel that dance music is losing touch with its roots…While I love playing to thousands of people at festivals, nothing beats a smoke-filled room, interacting with a crowd that you regularly get to spend time with and a killer sound system that’s purpose-built to fit the space. There is nothing that can replace the energy and intensity of a great club. Clubs provide that unique atmosphere where the DJ and crowd are able to connect on a very intimate level and really invest in each other, ideally over an extended period of time.”

When asked why he chose the venues that he picked he had this to say,
“The clubs I chose are a collection of places I've played at regularly throughout the years, the ones that, for the main part, have supported me since the get-go and that I love coming back to. Output in New York is the exception to this: it only opened earlier this year but I fell in love with it the first time I played there, and asked Nicolas, the owner, to have me back four times next year. In my mind these places are pushing forward the boundaries of what we do, these are the clubs where I want to spend my time, devote my energy, and do what I love doing more than almost anything, which is playing records and hanging out.”
The residencies set are as followed:
Fabric – London: Headlining ‘Room One' quarterly starting in mid-February.
Trouw – Amsterdam: Quarterly residency starting in mid-February. He will also be actively involved with the kitchen activities and helping craft the menus for Trouw's restaurant.
Output – New York: Quarterly residency starting at the end of March 2014.
Circo Loco – Ibiza: This will be his fourth residency at Circo Loco, kicking off in mid-June and running through until October. This will include ten shows throughout the summer.
