Every artist should attempt to break down the barriers of the norm, and create a new art-form that makes people question everything they think they know. Basically an artist should strive to make people look dumbfounded, or left with their jaws drooping on the floor. It is not often that an artist like this comes around, but Cashmere Cat has risen. The Norwegian born DJ/producer has restructured the idea of electronic music with his new song “With Me.” Magnus August Høiberg; Cashmere Cat, leads his listeners down the rabbit hole of electronic music with this new song. The Music Video is deceiving, because it makes your senses of vision and hearing contradict one another by setting a slow moving video of a man and woman kissing on screen that looks like the most perfect act of kissing that has ever been performed, while at the same time the song begins to take your sense of hearing through a confusing roller coaster ride of constantly changing directions. Though the video and song seem to make no sense with one another, I interpret the two as a mirror image to one another, not meant to be perceived as “in harmony”.
