The label with an amply stocked roster of talented producers, Monstercat, has chosen Rameses B's new single, “Transformations,” for their first release of the year, and it's stunning. From the very start, the elegant piano-line paired with Laura Brehm's sublime vocals give the track a contemporary feel to it, making it much more mature than the run-of-the-mill dubstep. On the first buildup, Rameses B gets chop-happy with Brehms vocals, and the drop brings forth a medley of pretty sounds with a hint of glitch. The second break brings back the rich aesthetic of the melody with the piano and serene pads. The second buildup is a more methodical pitch-bend one- which feels a bit low-brow in comparison to the rest of the gorgeous tune- which then leads into the second drop that's heavier than the first. Overall, this is one of those tracks you have to pay all of your attention to while listening to properly soak in every sound and appreciate the composition. It's not a banger, but rather, a beauty.
