Nate Rathbun, better known as Audien, has been on my radar for quite some time now. Having initially been signed by Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats and most recently with Spinnin Records, it is no doubt that Mr. Rathburn had an unbelievable year in 2013.
Last year he released his smash hit ‘Leaving You' with vocals from Michael S. Along with accompanying hits like ‘Wayfarer' and ‘Iris', and his recently released song ‘Colors' featuring the vocals of his favorite girl Ruby Prophet, Audien's popularity grew through the roof.
You could say 2013 was something of a fairytale for the kid straight from the suburbs of Connecticut. He even got to catch the second half of Morgan Page’s 3D tour, making stops in New York, Dallas, New Orleans, and Miami Beach, where I had the privelage of seeing him throw down an epic set at club Mansion!
His most recent original track, ‘Elysium', has him fuzing his ever popular progressive-trance style with a big room sound that is sure to be popular at festivals to come. Still sticking to the formula that makes his songs so perfect, Audien shifts toward the big drop that almost sounds like ‘Animals' in reverse.
Fast forward a few weeks, and we see Audien has been dabbling in the remix department with his take on Bastille's ‘Pompeii'. We've all heard the song, whether it be the Kat Krazy remix on BPM or even the original which is now making headway on the pop radio stations. The song is a true joy to sing along to… and with powerful vocals by Bastille's lead singer, Dan Smith, it's no wonder Audien felt it necessary to put his spin on this catchy tune.
I truly look forward to what Audien has to bring in the future, as he proves once again that his style is not limited to one genre. Take a listen to his latest and greatest, but, do yourselves a favor and check out his Soundcloud where you can explore his already dominate repertoire of songs.
