January may be too early to award a song as “Best Song of the Year” but Michael Calfan's remix of “Who We Are” by Switchfoot is ready to make a name for itself; this is the follow-up to “Resurrection” we have all been waiting for. Though it has been a few weeks since the release, this track is gaining traction from all over the globe. The lyrics are not overly complicated nor do they overpower the beautiful melody; there is a simple balance between Switchfoot and Michael Calfan. Sure anyone can “rage” to any song in a crowded club, but this track is so much more than that. It's meant to be listened to, not just heard. Happiness is the basic theme of the song and it is amplified the moment the melody hit its apex. I encourage all of you to find a few minutes to be alone, close your eyes, and listen to this track. If Michael Calfan is going to start 2014 like this, I cannot wait for what he has in store for the rest of the year.
