Electric Forest has just updated their Facebook page to share that “In light of recent rumors, we want to confirm that Electric Forest 2014 is definitely still happening! We are working to resolve the current legal situation and are confident we will win the debate. We are excited to announce that the initial 2014 line up is coming soon, and we can’t wait to see YOU in the Forest!”
The legal situation that they are referring to though is a legal battle between Electric Forest‘s promoter AEG and Electronic Dance Music's mogul, SFX Entertainment. The conflict dates back to SFX's initial attempt to purchase Insomniac which did not go through and then Madison House. Madison House decided to merge with AEG, leaving SFX in the dust. Because of this, SFX decided they would want to buy out Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury Forest where Electric Forest takes place.
Fortunately AEG and SFX's court date is set for February 28th leaving not enough time to cancel the festival and upset the 21,000 attendees of Electric Forest.
