While each have their list of pros and cons, I use FL studio which is a bit more user friendly than a few of the others I have used. Also, FL Studio does offer ‘LIVE Performance Mode' which many do not know existed. With any DAW you do need a stout sound sample library and organization. What a better way to try out a demo DAW than with some fresh new samples.
