Brooklyn residents Samuel Walker and Gavin Royce, better known simply as Walker & Royce, bring a diverse array of production skill, globe traversing experience and intimate studio knowledge to Night Supply with their latest release, “Insanity”.
Beginning with a solid kick drum and subtle, yet emotive white noise sweep, the deep-house leaning tune bursts open under an ever infectious lead synth line; using its full design to construct an expansive groove along with some snappy, clap fueled percussive elements and sophisticated hook. These components coalesce superbly, keeping its listener blissfully occupied while synchronously providing a welcome bit of breathing room before an imminent takeover of two-note melody. “Insanity” further evolves behind the introduction of an entrancing vocal slice -beatifically plucked from Marvin Gaye’s classic R&B staple “Just Like Music” – steeped in a reverby tinge which wholeheartedly embraces the established clubby, deep groove. Additionally, Walker & Royce’s adept application of burgeoning pads compliment the overall ambience on “Insanity” which adjoins its sections effortlessly through smooth transitions masterfully utilized throughout. “Insanity”, like many of Walker & Royce’s polished productions is a track with the contrasting ability to be consumed on club floors, Headphones or car stereos.
Already carrying the weighty distinction of being dubbed “future stars” by Pete Tong a few months back, along with an impressive stable of releases on house music’s most respected tastemaking outlets including Crosstown Rebels, OFF, Moda Black and Pet Recordings since commencing their partnership back in 2011, Walker & Royce have been thrust into the house music spotlight with welcome arms from their global contemporaries. Night Supply has done it once again and looking forward what else to come from this colorado based label!
