Since 2 AM Saturday morning, there have been six confirmed deaths and three people in critical condition due to attendees of Future Music Festival Asia overdosing. The drug responsible for these deaths was Methamphetamine, taken in pill form, according to Malaysian newspaper The Star and New Strait Times. The ages of the confirmed dead range from 21 to 27 years old.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those affected,” organizers of FMFA stated. “The health and safety of our patrons is of upmost importance to us and we are extremely devastated that circumstances such as these occurred despite the significant planning and resources in place.”
The Future Music Festival Asia was held in Kuala Lumpur. Big acts like Pharrell Williams, Knife Party, Eric Prydz and Baauer were scheduled to perform on the third day.
