Since everyone is DJing, it seems only fair that anyone be able to make up their own genre. We're loving the recent trend of the aptly nicknamed “tropical house” or “beach house”; artists like Klingande, Kygo, and Thomas Jack have basically created a subgenre from nothing, and its a beautiful sound. House music, unlike most other genres of EDM, originated in the USA (Merica! F*ya!) even though its popularity here has ebbed and flowed. Europeans adopted house from the Americans and its been a staple in clubs there ever since the 1980s. We're glad to see it taking hold here again, even if its in the “beach house” form. Below are 10 essential “beach house” tropical tracks for your summer EDM playlist.
