JoeySuki is a house music producer, record label pioneer, and podcast extraordinaire. His soundcloud has more than 20,000 followers, and his facebook has almost 100,000 likes. JoeySuki has been producing house music for the better part of a decade. Some of his latest hits include; “Get Ready“, “Aftermovie“, and “Life is Calling“, a collaboration with Kill The Buzz on Hardwell's record label Revealed.
2014 has been massive for JoeySuki. He started the year with his first ever North American tour. He played at 9 venues across the U.S. and Canada including Slake in New York, and Beats on a Boat in Miami. Of all 9 shows, he mentions the night at Create, L.A. as the most memorable:
“I really loved the gig in L.A. at Create Nightclub. That’s just a night that I won’t forget but the whole tour was great. It was the first time for me in the States and I loved everything about it.”
Playing in the United States is such a huge milestone for so many DJs. Because of the dance music explosion across the country, many DJs are now able to find success in the ultra-competitive American Music Industry:
“It’s not that I didn't wanted to come to the U.S. the years before… I think that the popularity of EDM in America also has something to do with it. It’s unreal how fast this music style is growing in the States.”
JoeySuki has spent his career balancing production with touring, producing his podcast “Suki Likes“, and operating his record label “Dubbed“. Taking on so many different parts of the industry can be extraordinarily challenging for even the most seasoned DJs:
“I always try to plan some days off for some studio time. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing around the world and DJing is definitely my passion, but making music in a dark studio also is”
JoeySuki has had opportunities to release music on the industry's biggest labels, including Hardwell's Revealed. One of the most exciting parts of being a producer from the Netherlands is getting to work with some of the biggest names in dance music:
“I would love to work with Fedde Le Grand. I admire him for his work and energy as a DJ but also for his tracks.”
Part of his job as Record Label front-man is to have an eye for new talent. JoeySuki is particularly good at picking out up-and-comers in the house and trance scene:
“…there are so many talented producers out there who are doing quite well at the moment but if I have to pick one… I’m not sure if you can call Audien an up and coming DJ/Producer but I really think that guy is going to be big this year!”
