It's no secret that MTV has strayed from its sound-heavy roots, but recently they have been trying to push music back into their program. Now, the T.V giant has taken to the booming internet and music streaming services to reclaim it's place in the scene.
Viacom, MTV's parent company, has announced a partnership with Spotify. They are to team up to deliver content together on respective websites and apps. This will involve the songs and playlists provided by Spotify for websites and apps affiliated with MTV, VH1, and CMT. The partnership will probably lead to playlists modeled after the soundtracks of MTV and VH1 native shows such as Guy Code and Love & Hip Hop. This is all to set in motion in the fall.
