It's a sad day. News that Virgin Mobile FreeFest, Baltimore's most prominent music festival for the past eight years, will be no more. No explanation was given as to why the popular fest held at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Howard County was cancelled, although clues from previous years were a sign that this day would come. We just didn't think it would be so soon. After all, last September's FreeFest lineup included Robin Thicke, MGMT and Vampire Weekend, bringing 50,00 fans to Merriweather. Despite the rain, the show sold out. R.I.P Virgin Mobile FreeFest. We shall miss you.
