So everyone remembers Arcade Fire's little comment about how they give props to bands who still use ‘real instruments' as they had a fake Daft Punk open their set at Coachella this year. Yeah I thought that was kind of a big headed comment (see what I did there?). Well I digress from bad puns and get to the real source of inspiration for this post. Flume creating a melodic, electronic work of art with the group's track ‘Afterlife'.
Flume is no stranger to remixes that some people would be surprised by but this one is a new beast entirely. The track is 10 minutes in length and takes the listener on a sonic journey. The build is slowly and haunting and the drop is subtle and elegant. As the vocals become repetitive and hypnotic time starts to escape from thought as the subtle reworked background groove slowly becomes more and more prominent. Words truly do not do this one justice. So take a listen below and let this one take you away to a place that is guaranteed to result in some introspection.
