Welcome to another episode of our podcast “The Spice”. Today is our 42nd episode and we're featuring German based artists Moonbootica.
We also got the opportunity to have a quick chat and get to learn a few things about this fascinating duo. KoweSix and Tobitob were close friends for about six to seven years, which was based off their similar music tastes. They always knew they wanted to start something and it finally came to be in 1999! We asked the pair to share the best moments in their 15 year career.
It’s impossible to answer this question. We had so many incredibly awesome moments in the last 14/15 years. We have played in front of crowds ranging from 200 to 200,000 people, on small islands and high mountains, in countries you would never normally travel to. A couple weeks ago we played live, meaning a live show with our own stage and light installation where we perform our own tracks with live vocals, at one of the biggest German rock festivals. Not our usual audience actually, but people went mental with the first bass drum. The whole time on stage I was thinking, ‘This is insane. I can’t believe this. After all the years of raves and parties, this moment right now, right here blows me away!' That was a true moment of excellence!!!
Europe is well known for its club scene, but these days you can catch a festival almost every weekend. Do you see festivals taking over in the near future?
It is already happening. I really love festivals with all the lights and other enormous enhancements, but it also scares me that the audiences are steadily losing interest for those long sweaty club nights where only the music counts, and the DJ takes you on a journey with small and beautiful wonders instead of relying on big bangs.
What can we expect in the mix? Any exclusive listens or unreleased tracks?
The mix is one of our favorites. It features two brand new tracks from our forthcoming album “Shine.” So yeah, it is pretty exclusive. The mix is like a ride through the night, starting smooth and becoming more and more intense as it goes along…Hope you’ll like it too.
What tours, EPs, albums, and anything else do you have planned for the future?
Our single “These Days are Gone” was released on Ultra Records on August 4th. Come September, we will be releasing a remix package as well. Our album “Shine” can be expected to hit the US later this fall. I’m not sure when we will play a tour in the US, but it will happen soon.
This mix is one of my personal favorites for a nice change in pace on our podcast series, and it's pure house – my all time favorite genre.
