Forbes recently revealed the highest paid EDM artists for the 2014 year, although no female acts appeared on the rankings. This may soon change though as Olivia and Miriam Nervo “NERVO” are starting to make waves in the industry.
NERVO first began writing lyrics for UK based popstars and S Club 7's Rachel Stevens, but then moved on and began to work with artists such as Steve Aoki and David Guetta. Steve and David both encouraged NERVO to try DJing out for themselves.
In the past 12 months, NERVO has DJ'd over 200 shows including Tomorrowland, Las Vegas' Hakkasan and Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel in Spain. The girls have also been a big part of CoverGirl's marketing campaign in which they earned around $9 million before taxes and fees this past year.
The girls from NERVO are doing something that hasn't been done much in EDM. “In the techno scene there’s a lot more girls,” Miriam says. “In the big room scene there aren’t as many girls, but there are more and more coming up every year.”
