Whether you want to chalk it up to the numerous festivals he's played throughout this summer, or being occupied with his responsibilities as the boss of #PizzaGang (which may or may not be in a bitter, mafia-like war with Carnage's #ChipotleGang), it's been a while since Crizzly put out a new tune. Thankfully, the forefather of crunkstep has now broken that silence with a hot new track, “Certified Gz,” Crizzly's adaptation of the original track by Freddie Gibbs and TrakkSounds.
Setting the stage with a dual force of a plucking synth and a higher-pitched chiptune synth over hip-hop-style strings, he drops the trill Slim Thug sample for the hook on top of the 808-filled beat. At the first drop, Crizzly juggles the melody between his juicy crunkstep lead and ping-ponging vocal synth hits over a clean bassline, creating a vibe with lots of room and no clutter. As the song progresses, Crizzly brings in louder-pitched synth leads to create a stronger second drop worth raging to. And like every track on Crizzly's Soundcloud, you can download “Certified Gz” for free.
Correction: the author originally thought “Certified Gz” was an original collaboration between Crizzly and Slim Thug, not an adaptation of an original hip-hop song from 2011.
