Sirens is a tour de force from house production duo, Gorgon City, made up of veteran producers, Foamo and RackNRuin. The deluxe edition gives you 17 tracks to thump to, each one as sparkly clean as it gets and accompanied by some of the best vocals heard in dance music all year. Guest singers MNEK, Maverick Sabre, Katy B, and Jennifer Hudson to name a few, all shine bright as they deliver one love song after the next and a greatest hits compilation. It would seem like a negative that each track is virtually the same dish; a romantic, four to the floor, house tune chalked with melodic piano chords and moody elegance, but luckily the formula works so undeniably well and you’re given so much to chew on that its heightens the entire package. Each track does a great Job of softening you up with its dark, emotional breaks and building you up again with its snappy, infectious grooves.
Sirens is authentically soulful and besides the housey beat, the album feels nearly 100% organic, so much so, that I wouldn’t be surprised to hear a live tour announced in the near future. Gorgon City makes bangers without being bangers, as shown best with Ready For Your Love, Go All Night, and their breakout single, Real, but the from front to back, this record impossible to ignore and should be a staple for the new wave of “deep house” fans taking over the dance scene.
