Check out this excellent interview from Mixcloud with Aussie funk producer Opiuo that breaks down the anatomy of a song. This is a really cool look into the making of the song “Quack Fat” off the album “Meraki” he released this year. In the interview, he talks about creating emotions without lyrics, the work he puts into his craft, and how you can't take yourself too seriously.
Funded by New Zealand on Air's 98.5 Radio station, the interview is just under 15 minutes and breaks down the making of specific sounds and explains their origin and purpose in the song. Meraki was one of the most intriguing albums of 2014 and Opiuo's production as a funk producer has certainly reached some exciting new heights. “Quack Fat” was just one of the hit singles off the album which was released independently this year. The fund-raising effort for the album also went towards Opiou starting his new label, Slurp Music. Follow Opiuo on Facebook, his website, Soundcloud, and Twitter to stay connected.
