For those involved in any way with drum and bass, you will be aware of the celebrations surrounding Viper Recordings reaching ten years in the game. Since their beginning back in 2004, the label have never failed to impress with their continuous stream of quality releases, with artists such as Matrix & Futurebound jumping to the front of the successful count.
Following their recent album launch party, the day has come for one of the hottest LPs right now to hit the shelves. “Decade of Viper” brings to light the true force behind the label and the effect it has had not only on the music industry, but the lives that surround the scene.
We take a step back into history for the closing section of the album, as timeless classics from the past decade make their way into the cut, with special mentions going out to Sigma, who as we know have now found some serious success not only in the underground world but commercially also, as well as Nero and Brookes Brothers.
Keeping things fresh, we get a selection of eleven previously unheard exclusives, a large majority of them coming in the form of some serious collaborations in which were no doubt some seriously hot studio sessions. Standout tracks come from The Prototypes, Bluescreens & Cynematic and Six Blade & Insomniax – however the album as whole is a completely exhilarating experience.
Rounding things off, label head Futurebound gets behind the decks to bring the whole journey together, with the “Decade of Viper” DJ mix.
