Last weekend we interviewed Texas-native Chris Wilson a.k.a. Riot Ten. Originally from El Paso, the up-and-coming trap star now travels around the country playing in some of America's hottest nightclubs and venues. He originally started producing music at 15 years old, making hip hop beats, and has since evolved into high-energy / mega-hype styles of trap, dubstep, and electro.
“When I make my music I try to incorporate multiple sounds that I've heard and that I like. I don't think I've ever said to myself ‘Ok, I'm going to make a song that sounds exactly like this one'.”
In our interview, I grilled Riot Ten with questions about who he most admires, and who he compares himself to the most in the world of electronic music:
Q: Who would you compare yourself most to? A: “Performance wise? Probably like Flosstradamus.”
Q: Who was a big influence on you making electronic music? A: “When it comes to house I like heavier shit like Knife Party; Skrillex, Bro Safari, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Zomboy.”
Q: If you could open for anyone who would you want to open for? A: “Either deadmau5 or Skrillex.”
Q: If you could play back-to-back with anyone who would you play with? A: “Skrillex, definitely Skrillex.”
