Tickets to the First Ever Rock in Rio USA Will Go on Sale January 20th

As edmsauce previously reported, production company SFX recently purchased Rock in Rio; one of South America's largest names in festivals. SFX festival fans won't be surprised that anyone anxious to get tickets for the event will likely have to do so without knowing who the electronic headliners will be. This is a move SFX (and subsidiary ID&T) are well known for.

To create an epic festival environment, the production company promotes an attitude of trust between its festival-goers and its organizers. Many American EDM lovers will remember the debut of Sensation USA in which tickets were on sale more than 3 months before the lineup was announced. Right now, all we have is an ominous “COMING SOON” sign on the festival's website:

Maybe we'll learn more prior to tickets going on sale next Tuesday, January 20th, but I doubt it. Regardless, this event isn't one to miss. Unlike other U.S. extension events, such as Mysteryland and TomorrowWorld, Rock in Rio is only penciled in to take place every 2 years. In other words, if you don't buy tickets when they hit the open market, you could be waiting until 2017.

Rock in Rio USA's website has several non-EDM artists already posted:

Rock Weekend, May 8-9 Pop Weekend, May 15-16
No Doubt
Metallica
Mana
Linkin Park
Rise Against
Deftones
Sepultura
Coheed & Cambria
Taylor Swift
Bruno Mars
Ed Sheeran
John Legend
Joss Stone

Tickets will be priced at $298 per weekend for general admission, or $498 per day for VIP. We're curious to see how the electronic lineup will compliment the theme of each weekend. Should we expect to see David Guetta & Avicii playing the “Pop Weekend” and Knife Party & The Bloody Beetroots during the “Rock Weekend”? Time will tell.
