In today's world of music mass production, over saturated labels, and endlessly conflicting subgenres, it's inspiring to hear a new sound. Los Angeles native, Sullivan King, refers to his own music as the “ultimate fusion of hard rock, bass music, and tacos.” Moving past the inevitable reference to mexican cuisine, we were most surprised to learn that he considers electronic music to be only 10% of his “music diet”:
“Knife Party and Nero are pretty much the reason I started producing”

Sullivan King adds Kill the Noise, Gesaffelstein, Flux Pavilion, and Skrillex to his pallet of EDM influences. The other nine-tenths might not be familiar to our readers: A Day To Remember, A7X, Volbeat, The Story So Far, Of Mice And Men:
“I'll be talking to some bro and a chick right before Deadmau5 or something, all gussied up in Glitter and daisies, and they flip out when I tell them I listen to Bring Me The Horizon. “OMG THAT WAS MY FAV BAND THEY'RE AMAZING OLI SYKES CAN HAVE MY BABIES!!!” I started making this music, not just because I enjoy it, but because it's what I wanted to hear in EDM – and it just wasn't there”
“I grew up listening to Metal and Punk and Post-Hardcore, going to those shows”
There's an organic mesh between punk rock and electronic music that's been around for decades. Despite radical differences in sound, both hard rock and EDM are rooted in an idea of movement. It's the power of physical inspiration buried deep within the chords of atmospheric melodies that bring the genres together.
The energy in Sullivan King's music is atomic. We wanted to know where he sees himself in the world map of live music, festivals, and events: “That's a really good question because I've put an insane amount of thought into that. For me, I see myself doing fests/tours like Warped Tour, Day Of The Dead, Escape from Wonderland. The more punk/dark themed events. I'd absolutely love, and be honored, to play EDC, Coachella, Tomorrowland, etc, but I'm not sure if the crowd would totally get it… But hey you never know! I think tours are where I'll do best – going on tour with Destroid, Skrillex, Kill The Noise, or even bands like Issues, Ghost Town, and I See Stars would be wayyy sick.”
