First and foremost, kudos to Sam Smith for his 4 Grammys & Aphex Twin for winning the ‘Electronic Album of the Year' award for his LP, Syro. Last night at the end of the award ceremony, but before Kanye West's awkwardly Live freak-out on E!'s Grammy After Party, Recording Academy president Neil Portnow announced The Grammy Creators Alliance. The coalition was created to help advise policymakers on establishing what it considers ‘fair' royalty rates for musicians as well as to educate artists and other creative professionals on how to properly advocate for their rights and needs.. In other words they're helping all artists have more of a say in the whole process. Though it's not yet 100% understood what exactly they'll be helping with, The Grammy Creators Alliance have released a press release filled with answers to frequently asked questions about their movement.
