EDM Sauce had the chance to do an exclusive interview with the extremely talented music producer. During the interview we discussed some of his famous singles, new material, and secrets that will soon be revealed.
What inspired you to create Winner?
“My idea is to create a storyline in my DJ sets and I felt Winner needed to be in there. Winner has a nice groove, but also goes off at a festival. So I really like the feeling you get when it's played, but there's also energy in the song. It's got two sides to it that fit perfectly in the story line I have in mind.”
What types of music did you first start listening to before you became a DJ/producer? “I listened to all kind of music. My favorites were N*E*R*D, Jamiroquai and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
What was your favorite part about collaborating ‘Selecta' with Afrojack?
“We've already been friends for a long time and also started DJing in the clubs together at the same parties. So that combined made us create music and one of the tracks we made was Selecta! It was a session that ended when people normally go to work, somewhere in the morning haha!”
Who inspired you the most when working with?
That's hard to say. There's so many different people who inspired me, from amazing songwriters to amazing producers. The crowds in front of me during my sets are also inspiring, they give me my energy and creative mind.
When Spinnin’ Sessions invited you to be a guest mix for their show, What were your exact feelings?
Happy to be part of the Spinnin' Sessions after releasing so many records. It's good to combine everything in a mini mix.
What's your favorite city to perform in America? and why?
Oeff, that's a hard one. So many good clubs and festivals, it's like a kid in a candy shop. Talking about candy shop, we also work in a sort of adult candy shop (Vegas haha!) but the EDC New York was mind blowing for me too.. So much support and energy, it gave me goosebumps all over.
What have you done with your success so far? “Enjoyed it and let me get triggered to work harder. It's like if you eat something good, you want more and more.”
What's in store for Quintino in 2015?
“So many releases and collabs, amazing shows and lots of insides of airplanes 😀 Good thing to know is my new single Escape (Into The Sunset), which comes out March 23rd on Spinnin' Records and features strong vocal work by Una and is shaping up to be a true anthem for my DJ gigs. Support is already massive, so looks like Escape is really gonna be something..”
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? “Still doing the thing I love the most, making people happy with my music and perform all over the world. I hope to keep on moving up every year and take over the world with my sound. And waiting for a time traveling machine, I need that.”
