Out now through the ever-brilliant Ultra Music is a new pair of remixes from Scottie Deep, otherwise known as the brother of Marc “MK” Kinchen. Kinchen has taken on Mr. G Sings’ indie-tinged “The Caged Bird Sings” that landed through the label last year, and he has put two great spins on the track.
From the two edits, Kinchen’s “NYC 94” rework comes first, a wholeheartedly euphoric ode to the more old school dance music era, complete with lively piano chords and chopped vocals. In contrast, and for the deeper heads, comes his “When Dubs Cry” remix, which strips the tune back into moodier themes with a deeply progressive rhythm.
