EDMbiz is a conference and expo started back in 2012 for EDM industry leaders to come together and discuss the pressing issues of the scene under one roof. Every year, the Insomniac-hosted event tries to one-up itself with new panelists, contests, and more. This year, EDMbiz will be hosting two new contests: the EDMbiz Startup Contest and Best Record/A&R contest.
Partnering with Digital Music News, the Startup Contest will be an opportunity for five startup teams to pitch their business ideas to high-level venture capitalists and EDM's most revered executives for the chance to earn an initial investment from the judges. The ideas that the panel of judges find most disruptive and innovative in the fields of technology, live, and more will be decided the winner after a five minute pitch and following Q&A. Startup teams interested in participating can enter the contest here with a deadline of June 2nd at 11:59 p.m. PST. The top five most promising startups will be selected to compete in the final contest at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas at the conference.
The Best Record/A&R contest will be hosted by Insomniac, Wavo, and Insomniac for one lucky producer to possibly catapult their career with the end prize being an official release on Insomniac Records. By submitting their track online, artists will be judged via a crowd-sourced system on Wavo starting June 1st and ending June 5th at 5 p.m. PST. After listeners vote their favorite tracks to the top, a judging panel of EDM's most renowned A&R executives will then decide the winner who will see their track released on Insomniac Records. For those attending the conference, EDMbiz have also announced the official pre-party featuring Afrojack at Omnia and the Closing Night Party at the Boulevard Pool with Alesso commanding the decks for the night.
