To tease their new Launchpad mk2 series, Novation recently dropped a sweet new video to their YouTube channel, NovationTV. Check it out below. The new grid version is 8×8 and has 64 pads that integrate with Ableton Live. They're also lit by RGB LED lights that coordinate to the color of the clips (that you customize). Light shows abound.
There is no OFFICIAL release date or pricing yet. Some rumors are floating around in the UK. Users and interested customers can can sign-up for notification and stay tuned by following Novation online.

That basic mk2 model will have plenty of features. Beginners receive Ableton Live Lite, samples, and a Bass Station plug-in. Ableton live users will be pre-mapped to Drum Racks, mixing, and Max for Live.
For iPad users, you can use the Launchpad app and support Novation's updates – giving you the same grid as the physical mk2. The Launchpad also has class-compliant drivers that allow many other apps to work as well including Linux, Windows, and many others.
While many Novation users will weigh their options as more details unfold, one thing is for sure – it's a very portable option that has plenty of exciting new functions. Plus, it can be fully charged by USB.
