47 year-old, Grammy nominated and multi-platinum producer Tom Holkenberg AKA Junkie XL might not be the first name you think of when you think of electronic dance music – but he should be. After all, he's responsible for one of the most famous remixes of all time – his official edit of Elvis Presley's “A Little Less Conversation.” However, this is just a footnote on his career list.
He's done other official remixes for Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and many more. He's scored video games: Need For Speed, The Sims, and SSX. His music has been featured in campaigns and super bowl commercial for companies like Nike, Heineken, Adidas, Cadillac and VISA. HE currently scores films regularly with guys like Hans Zimmer like the Dark Knight Rises (2012) and the 300 sequel. He also did Mad Max.
Let's just say he's really talented – a keyboardist, guitarist, drummer, violinist, and skilled bass musician – who makes his own instruments… oh and a master of studio technology. You should check him out on socials like Facebook, where he regularly posts some of the most incredible new equipment (majorly used in electronic composition). He's the cutting edge of the scene – a Pioneer. The Dutch stud is now based in Venice Beach, CA and tomorrow he's doing a Reddit AMA. Check it out!!
We'll be tuned in. Log in to Reddit here and follow Junkie XL for updates. He goes live at 3 PM PST.
He also does YouTube tutorials for free now. Amazing guy. Check them out. Here's one below with a full playlist – on his Mad Max composition.
