Ryan Lofty has been quite busy in his Vegas studio. I am guessing it’s the sun out there that has put this artist in a zen like state. Ryan’s follow up release to The Mountain which can be heard HERE; called Universe + Me (feat. Rich Jones) is another tropical house masterpiece. Teaming up with one of Chicago’s hottest MC's, Rich Jones, seems to have paid off in a big way.
Friends since college days the two always talked about making music together. Lofty would eventually leave Chitown to follow his career as a Composer at Disney Creative Studio in Los Angeles. Jones would go on to become one of Chicago’s top underground MC's both as a solo artist and as one third of the hip hop group Second City Citizens. Years later they would get that chance to make music together and I believe what they have created is nothing short of amazing.
Universe + Me starts out with the smoothness of Lionel Richie’s mustache. Taking a loop of a flute sample and adding a reported seventy-two layers of Asian-inspired melodies. Rich Jones amazing vocal harmonies lay perfectly on top of progressive drum beats, and syncopated bass. This song is a blend of cultures and creativity that has me craving more from this fresh new talent.
