With soul and funk like Griz and some masterful disco blues style, Defunk absolutely kills with this latest release on Westwood Recordings. This is the first ever Bandcamp release through the label and a big one – so make sure to check it out HERE and pay what you want. You can also snag it for free here on Soundcloud.
As per Westwood's link description, there's some extremely cool “Swinging saxophone solos,” “banjo breakdowns,” “soul-sister vocal build ups,” and “face melting bass drops.” Lots of feel good funk in here, make sure to snag your copy of this mega release.
The first single, “Forever and Never” is a wonderful funk anthem filled with groove and swing. The album continues with some massive midtempo jams that might remind listeners of Opiuo's style with tunes like “Strut.” There's plenty of soulful tracks to keep things jiving – not to mention some great collaborative efforts like a great tune called “Funk That” with Sam Klass and a tune with the Ragga Twins. Sometimes the vibe even goes disco with tunes like “Fall Too Hard.” Check out the full release HERE and stream “Forever and Never” below here:
