Dutch duo Redondo has been described once as “music that makes your girlfriend wanna dance”, but of course as an artist you're always trying to take things to the next level – “music that makes your entire family including even your goldfish wanna dance.” They were born in the 1980’s in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and for over 10 years they have been making music together. Gathering experience in the industry for over five years, they've been playing all across Europe and releasing music on some of the the best record labels out there during these early stages in their career.

As they've started to evolve, Redondo stands for just about everything in between house and techno genres. Their tracks that they produced in the past have reached top-Beatport chart positions multiple times, and currently several new releases are lined up on the world's hottest tech-house labels, i.e. Great Stuff, Material, Witty Tunes, Kling Klong, Toolroom, 1605, King Street, Sphera and with their brothers Sideburn. Redondo recent singles are Love Too Deep and Tattoo Girl and other works on labels like Spinnin’ Records, Toolroom and Material have gotten us in an all new spotlight. With their original style and unique view on quality house music, Redondo continues to make a name for themselves.

EDM Sauce had the honor to have a sit-down interview at the world’s greatest music festival – Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium. It was very overwhelming for all of us as we soaked up our incredible surroundings at Tomorrowland. We managed to speak on a number of topics, however, including their new music, collaborations, and mostly just sharing our own adventures at this magical festival. Enjoy.

EDM Sauce: Are you having a great time?

Redondo: We just played at the restaurant, for the reservation table, one hour of delicious foods, and standing tables – so everyone was dancing on the tables! Dancing, drinking, and eating… it's like a perfect combination. In a few hours we have to play another set at the Blue Flame Stage. Having a great time, Yes!

Redondo at Tomorrowland

EDM Sauce: What's the craziest thing you've seen at Tomorrowland so far?

Redondo: Its still early, but its so amazing seeing all the different flags. Everybody is really going for it, so at different festivals everybody is like, “lets go at 4 o’clock or something.” But we arrived sometime at 1:30 PMand I think at 10 A.M., people were already coming and going. Everybody is going for it here.

EDM Sauce It's overwhelming to see all the people and scenery right?

Redondo: Yes, absolutely.

EDM Sauce: Is this your first time at Tomorrowland?

Redondo: Yes it is, its exciting for us as well. Since last year everything started to kick off and we had some tracks that were going from underground to mainstream – so it opened so many doors. This year we play at Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and in the UK, we're buzzing here…

EDM Sauce: Plus you’re buzzing around in the United States as well!

Redondo: Actually we are going to the states in a few weeks, playing in Buffalo (New York), Sacramento, so yeah we have that and New York… from DC and we go to San Francisco. Deep House is definitely kicking off in the states.

EDM Sauce: Your timing is perfect.

Redondo: Concord to the Continents! (laughing). Just waiting for the right moment, and then BOOM!

EDM Sauce: Any surprises in your set today for your fans?

Redondo: We're typically ‘old school DJs’ in a way. We're always looking for tracks weeks at a time, trying to find an exclusive thing or some obscure shop. We're also mashing things up and just trying to find records that nobody has yet. We're trying to find a combination between reactions like ‘oh cool I know this record’… things that are familiar to people… and also tracks that people never heard before. It's so exciting to see people when you go (play), people ask, “what is that track?” And you spend all week searching for that track… that's what's the craft of DJ'ing is all about in the end.

EDM Sauce: People are combining music together, and reviving old songs from the 60's to songs from the 90's is Redondo planning on reviving any music in the near future?

Redondo: We might at some point. Everybody has the right to at least one track coming out with the old vocal (bootleg), but we keep it slightly more original and more original vocals, more less known vocals. Maybe we can give a little scoop at this moment. We're working with Spinnin’ Records on kind of a rework of an old track by Salt-N-Pepa. It's like a typical non-chorus part where we take a piece of the track that's not the chorus – but just some minor middle part – and we add some new chords to it and it sounds like a chorus… that's really exciting to do. A lot of stuff is happening!

EDM Sauce: Any collaborations on the way as well?

Redondo: We recently made a track with Bolier ft. She Keeps Bees – “Every Single Piece” and we have a follow-up track coming soon. Also, a collaboration with Camelphat from Liverpool. They're friends of ours and we finally got together to make a track. We're both playing at the same stage at Creamfields this year so it's going to be so massive. The track is coming out end September on Spinnin’ Deep Records. Very exciting stuff happening for us. (Grab your own copy of Every Single Piece)

EDM Sauce: Are you planning on seeing any other DJs/artists that you are a fan of?

Redondo: To be honest, I'm more for going to see our friends, and then maybe just have a look at the overall feel of the festival and the MainStage.

The guys also added that Tomorrowland was more of a place for them to see their friends, make new connections and relationships… and just enjoy the festival atmosphere. With grounded roots, it's only the beginning for Redondo. Their passion for music and their fresh original sound will surely keep them on the right road to success. With one banger after another, the Dutch duo is not slowing down anytime soon. Stay tuned for more music and surprises from these two talented artists.
