“Dear New York,” “Helicopter,” and “I Can't Understand” are just some of the genius tunes that these two Dutch artists created together… Firebeatz. Tim Benjamin Smulders (born 14 August 1985) and Jurre van Doeselaar (born 7 July 1987) entered the dance music scene in 2008 and now the Holland based duo have swiftly merited a reputable and made a solid name for themselves. Firebeatz continues to conquer the dance music world with their most recent hits such as Sky High (Tiësto edit), (HERE) and Joe Stone – The Party ft. Montell Jordan (This Is How We Do It) (Firebeatz Remix), (both Out Now on Beatport). (HERE)
EDM Sauce had the privilege of interviewing Firebeatz at this year’s Tomorrowland in Belgium, and discussing their most recent success of their remix to Joe Stone – The Party. Firebeatz success continues to rise as they continue to create massive chart topping songs.
This wasn't their first time at the world’s greatest music festival, in fact it's their third time.
“Actually last time we played both weekends so its our fourth time,” Firebeatz added. We asked if this was the wildest year they've attended the massive festival so far.
“Not yet, but Im sure its going to happen, its so crazy at Tomorrowland – we'll make it crazy!”
Dropping some new music in their epic set, we asked about their new collaborations on the horizon.
“A new one with Tiësto on Musical Freedom its called Sky High – Firebeatz – Sky High (Tiësto edit) so we're going to play that and a new one with W&W. Yeah and our Joe Stone remix – The Party just came out.”
They also discussed why they chose to remix that particular track. They added that in a year or two, they might be interested in reviving more throwback style tracks.
“Well we heard the song (Joe Stone – The Party ft. Montell Jordan (This Is How We Do It) and of course this remake was a deep house version and we were like we love the original so lets make and edit for our own sets and we just added the original in the break, build a new drop yeah it works great. Its good, it brings back memories.”
Although their track “Dear New York” has a loud, big room vibe, it seems like the group has transitioned more into deep house. However, the duo feels that this is just a coincidence.
“We’re not really into deep house, we make whatever we like, one will be house, one will be EDM, its whatever vibe were in – in the studio.”
“I can't really say one favorite track, every song has a different story to it and ‘Dear New York’ just went Gold so its nice.”
“Im definitely going to the MainStage and see everyone that I like. It’s too bad that we missed W&W because we're playing at the same time but after that we're going straight to the MainStage and check it out.” Jurre adds “We go where the party is, It's Party Time!”
Firebeatz did play a killer set that night at Tomorrowland, with everyone’s favorite songs. Started the party off right with their collaboration with Julian Jordan & Sander van Doorn – Rage. Through in some mind-blowing mashups like Firebeatz & Schella vs. ZHU vs. Tommy Trash & Killagraham – Switch vs. Faded vs. The Little Death (Firebeatz Mashup) and of course played some of their well known songs like ‘Invincible’ collab with DubVision feat. Ruby Prophet. Some surprise music that is still unknown ID but they did play their most recent works like Sky High (Tiësto Edit) and their remix to Joe Stone feat. Montell Jordan – The Party (This Is How We Do It). The two best friends from Firebeatz aren't slowing down with their success as they bring new fresh original tunes to YOU!
