I recently had the opportunity to sit down with high energy producing and DJ group, FIGHT CLVB. We were able to rip through a comedic and revealing Q&A session with two of the groups members, SAV and his off-the-wall hype man, Mystereo. Check it out below.
Q: If you were locked in the room for the rest of your lives, but only could listen to one song, what song would it be?
A: (Mystereo) “Space balls…classic.”
(SAV) “Mystereo, that's a movie.”
(Mystereo) “Oh, my bad. Then, my heart will go on by Celine Dion. Brings tears to these old eyes. I'll never let go.”
(SAV) “That's a tough one. Probably, Morrissey- How Soon is Now
Q: What are some of your favorite venues to play?
A: (Mystereo) “Webster Hall for sure. That's the one venue that's never given me issues getting in with my face, even in the early days. And their crowds are just super hyper.”
Q: Do you guys have any tours planned this fall?
A: (SAV) “Yes. We have a full fall tour planned. You can check our social media pages for our full tour schedule. We're announcing phase two of the tour in a few days. Keep checking back for more info!”
Q: How did Fight Clvb all begin and what motivated you to become Fight Clvb?
A: (SAV) “Everything about the process was just super natural. Mystero and I love movies and we wanted to merge cinema with electronic dance music, and FIGHT CLVB was born out of that.”
(Mystereo) “STOP BREAKING THE FIRST RULE, SAV!”
Q: How is the dance music scene in your eyes at the moment? Where do you see it five years from now?
A: (Mystereo) “We try not to really pay attention to what others are doing in the scene. We find that it's the absolute best way to stay fresh, ya know? There are a few guys in the scene pushing creativity within their brands that transcend the norms. We love the guys that challenge that…Dillon Francis, Dillon Francis, Dillon Francis…”
Q: If you had a time machine what year would you go back to and why
A: (SAV) “Great question. We love to time travel. Back to the Future and Donnie Darko are my favorite films. I think I would go to the 70's and experience the disco era, visit ‘The Loft', ‘Studio 54', and ‘Paradise Garage'.”
(Mystereo) “I'm done with the past…why dwell on it? Send me to 2035 so I could see all the accolades, Grammies, Oscars, VMAs, Moon Men, Nickelodeon, Kids Choice Awards, that FIGHT CLVB has amassed over the years. Bring on the FUTURE!”
Q: What's the craziest thing that has ever happened to you at a show?
A: (Mystereo) “Funniest thing to happen to us at a show…we were playing the “I'm Shmacked” tour and some chick sprayed us down with a fire extinguisher. We had to stop the show and clean off the CDJs before we could continue our set.
Q: If you could stage a show anywhere, where would it be?
A: (SAV) “If I could stage a show anywhere, it would have to be in the Amazon Jungle. Is that too cliche?”
(Mystereo) “The White House. Obama would be down with it.”
Q: Is there anything you would like to add?
A: (SAV) “Shout outs to our amazing team! Everyone putting in the work behind the scenes, helping us get out there. Big shout outs to Afrojack for really getting behind us. Look out for Rude Boi EP dropping August 31st via WALL Recordings/Spinnin. Can't forget #SUS ft. Carly Burns out on Dim Mak 9/25.”
