The sandwich chain Quizno's is in some hot water after releasing a parody commercial of Burning Man.
The short 3 minute video takes jabs at some of Burning Man's most popular attributes, such as its “cuddle puddles” aka “cudpuds,” gazing workshops, art cars and futuristic outfits. In exchange for back massages, the characters receive Quizno's subs.
While the parody commercial is supposed to be taken lightly, Burning Man is so anti-corporate that that are aiming to taking legal action against Quizno's.
“We are pretty proactive about protecting our 10 principles, one of which is decommodification,” said Jim Graham, spokesperson for Burning Man. “We get a quite a number of requests each year from companies wanting to gift participants with their product or to capture imagery or video of their products at the event, and we turn them all down.”
If Burning Man does decide to sue Quizno's, they have a pretty good chance of winning, especially since they already won a similar case against ‘Girls Gone Wild.'
