The French prodigy Gesaffelstein has been mysteriously counting down an unknown event for a while now – and many expected a follow-up to his debut album, ALEPH, in 2013. This news (and end of the countdown) came in subtle ways today with his next project, a French indie film called “Maryland” (also called “Disorder”). Via his Facebook and website, the producer who has done work with Tiga, A$AP Rocky, Lana Del Rey, and Pheonix to name a few – shared some links that offered buy links to the new soundtrack which includes nearly a dozen new songs.
After announcing his last live show this year (Coachella), his legacy will live on with new music – at this stage, for film. As of today, the soundtrack is available on pre-order here. Check out his website for full information. The tunes will be more of an ambient score than his usual gritty techno. The Hollywood Reporter called it “lulling.”
Maryland premiered at Cannes Film Festival. The cast includes Diane Kruger and Matthias Schoenaerts – a drama thriller that will be released in France at the end of the month (September 30th).
