Enya (known as Enya Brennan in her personal life), the Irish singer-songwriter who came to prominence with a number of hit singles in the nineties, is back. She's got a full album called “Dark Sky Island” coming on November 20th, announced via Warner Bros. recently.
Known for her collaborative works, Enya brought in production partners Nicky and Roma Ryan for help on the composition of the tracks. With inspiration from poetry and their content which depicts “dark island” type settings, the name and theme for the album were born – and the music certainly depicts the influence.
“This album has a theme of journeys,” Enya explained to Billboard. “Journeys to the island; through the length of a lifetime; through history, through emotions; and journeys across great oceans. So although it’s not a ‘themed’ album, as such, we nevertheless have an underlying connection between songs.”
