New reports from the spectrum of the music world are validating the profitable and yet sometimes forgotten streaming service Amazon Prime. Some reporters are giving the service more attention following some new research that warrants the “other” guy.
According to Parks Associates, Amazon Prime Music is the leading subscription service used by 10% of households that subscribe to a paid service with broadband. Coming in second, Pandora One with 6%, Spotify Premium with 4%, Sirius XM Streaming with 4%, and just 2% for iTunes Match and Google Play.
According to the full report, 66 percent of 97 million American households with broadband connections use an audio streaming service. Of that total, about 26% use a paid service. While the popularity of many free services continue to rise, the paid services continue to rise deliberately as well.
While Amazon Prime may be limited to some users, their success in this market makes for an interesting plot twist as the streaming game evolves.
