Known for dealing with hurricanes and other severe weather during this time of year, Texas is no stranger to storms and heavy weather systems. This weekend, Something Wicked Festival was forced to cancel both days of their event because of heavy rains and severe weather. The event takes place right in the heart of Southeast Texas at Sam Houston Raceway in Houston.
Debris and flooding threatened many parts of Louisiana and adjacent Texas this week thanks to what many are calling the most “rapidly developed tropical system in history,” Hurricane Patricia. The storm was a major factor in the current weather in this region with 200 M.P.H. winds that forced evacuations throughout Mexico earlier this week. See more on the weather report here.
This morning, Something Wicked was officially cancelled via social media and other announcements on the web. Refunds will be given with details coming next week. On their Facebook page, Something Wicked made this statement:
“The decision to cancel Day 2 adheres to numerous weather reports and warnings. Fan and employee safety are paramount. Thank you for your understanding during these trying times. We will be in touch Monday with more details regarding refunds.”

The decision is based upon the recommendation of experts, local authorities and the National Weather Service.
