The legal troubles of the infamous, Rhapsody-owned Napster have been well-documented. But 2016 might bring the company a new chapter entirely.
Yahoo News reported this week that Napster is re-launching in Canada. Napster's CFO Ethan Rudin explained the move:
“It was important to us that we enter Canada with a personalized music experience that has a complete catalog of local, national and international artists,” Rudin said.
This time, Napster will be doing everything by the book. They will offer a subscription service with online playback for about ten dollars a month ($9.99 Canadian) with music streaming that will translate to iOS, Android, Windows phones, Sonos, and Chromecast.
Local Canadian artists are already reaping the rewards of Napster's new platform and friendly exposure is gaining traction.
