The dance music community has received a lot of negative attention from outsiders, but there’s something to be said about the DJs who are taking their fame and success and using it to make a difference in the world. As one of the most successful international electronic acts, Hardwell will join the list of charitable DJs with his latest initiatives. The launch of his United We Are Foundation is forthcoming, which will provide education to impoverished children around the world.
To celebrate the launch of his charitable organization, the Dutch superstar will headline a performance in Mumbai on December 13, with all proceeds going directly towards pulling 3,000 children out of poverty. That’s not all – the Mumbai performance will double as a shot at breaking the record for “World’s Biggest Guest List,” as the DJ opens up his personal guest list to 100,000 of his fans to attend for free. As if these two actions didn’t already seal Hardwell’s fate as an international icon, he has also received his own action figure. Musicians who have received this honor include The Beatles and Michael Jackson, but as far as DJs go, he is one of the first DJs to be immortalized as an action figure, alongside Dutch colleague, Armin van Buuren.
