SoundCloud has been getting on a lot of people's last nerves lately. Not only has SoundCloud been troubling fans, but SoundCloud has also made it a living nightmare for producers and DJs.
When DJ Detweiler decided to upload his prank remix of John Cage's “433,” he was astounded that SoundCloud decided to remove his song from SoundCloud. In an attempt to “start a conversation about copyright for fun,” DJ Detweiler's remix of “4'33” was completely silent.
According to DJ Detweiler, a SoundCloud spokesperson said that the DJ's remix “was not a track of silence and was taken down because it included Justin Bieber's What Do You Mean without the rightsholder's permission.” While Detweiler doesn't hate SoundCloud he did say that “I just find ridiculous the fact that if I'm not generating any profit from remixing a piece of sound, I get the song taken down.”
MADE A NEW REMIX TODAY, SOMEHOW THIS HAPPENED
