The trajectory of EDM buzz heading into 2016 festival season has just reached full tilt mode – especially if you're entertaining the possibility of going to Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival. The Phase One lineup was announced this week and it should be a great one – set for March 18-20.
The original drum and bass dubstep pioneer Pendulum (of Knife Party fame) reunites to up the buzz, including the likes of The Prodigy, Miike Snow (and Galantis), Caribou, Avicii, Kaskade, Armin van Buuren, and Tiesto. Rabbit in the Moon will also be making their debut. Kygo, Marshmello, Thomas Jack, and Chet Faker add some great variety to this interesting lineup as well. Ultra Ambassador Carl Cox leads the headliners into another year of house-based lore.
Among other notables, Maceo Plex, Jamie Jones, and Loco Dice will lead the European up and coming surge. We've also been given a first look at the new Spider stage from our friends at Ultra from Arcadia Spectacular (meant for the Resistance stage). A Spider will come to life each night on the 50 ton, 20m tall structure in Downtown Miami (where the Resistance Stage is based).
An official release from Ultra states that the spider is “rigged with cutting edge technology, features a DJ Booth suspended above the crowd, and shoots 50-foot fireballs above the dancefloor.”
